Singapore HSA Releases Guidelines on Claims and Claims Substantiation of Health Supplements and Traditional Medicines

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) Singapore has released guidelines on claims and claims substantiation for Health Supplements (HS) and Traditional Medicines (TM) in July 2022.

For HS, the health claims that are permissible are to do with supporting or enhancing general health, or a function or biological activity of the body. As for TM, the claims regarding support and enhancement of health, and management of non-serious medical conditions are allowed.

These claims need to be substantiated by evidence based on selected literature and regulatory evidence, such as British Pharmacopeia, Indian Materia Medica, Dictionary of Chinese Pharmacy, and others.
